Keeping Your College Coed Healthy

As parents we all worry about our children’s health and wellbeing especially when they are away from our supervision. However, the time comes when they want to go out and live on their own. We can only hope that some of the things that we have taught them along the way in terms of personal hygiene and keeping their living environment clean and orderly has rubbed off on them.

We have equipped them over the years with the proper tools of education to help them in life. Why not equip them with the proper tools to maintain a healthy living environment? Why not educate them on that simple basic need? I am sure they have heard about what foods their bodies need to stay healthy. How much do they know about cleaning? Do they know that chemical free cleaning is healthier for them and their environment?

Recently I visited a group of college coeds who are five in number living together in a small apartment for the first time. When I arrived much to my surprise and pleasure the apartment was spick and span and looked clean and orderly. That was a big improvement from the first time I had visited. The five coeds were very proud of themselves, as was I. Unfortunately, by the time I was ready to leave for home my head was stuffy, my nose was itchy and I ended up sneezing for the next three days.

When I asked the girls what they used to clean their apartment I began to realize why I was feeling congested & itchy and why I was sneezing. They told me they bought sponges, a bucket, a mop and lots of chemical-based cleaners. Like many people I have allergies to chemical-based cleaners, not only to the residue they leave behind and the fumes they put in the air but they also irritate my skin. If I had helped the coeds clean the skin on my hands would have cracked and gotten irritated.

There is a solution to their cleaning problems that would not only help people with allergies to chemical-based cleaners like mine but would also do a much better job of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting their apartment. Using a steam cleaner will eliminate the need for chemical-based cleaners and the problems they cause.

Steam cleaners use a small amount of water that is heated to at least 212° F to create a steam vapor that cleans, disinfects and sanitizes. No chemical-based cleaners are needed, just water. Steam cleaners are effective on many different surfaces including floors, countertops, sinks, faucets, etc. However, steam cleaners go far beyond just those surfaces.

Steam cleaners are excellent for use on mattresses, draperies, upholstery and carpeting. These are the places where dust mites and bed bugs live and bread. Steam cleaners make easy work of killing these pests. Dust mites in particular wreak havoc on allergies and they can be found everywhere. It is estimated that the average mattress has anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites living in them.

Why not invest in a tool that will help your children stay healthier.  A Steamboy T2 steam mop is a good place to start.  You may eliminate buying chemically based cleaners as well as doctor office visits and medicines for colds and allergies.

You will sleep better knowing your children are living in a healthier environment.
